For those patients' eligible for the flu vaccine you will start to receive letters from NHS Scotland about the arrangements for the other eligible age ranges.
The Practice has been receiving numerous calls asking the Practice if vaccinations can be done at the surgery. We are not able to carry out any other cohort for those eligible for the flu vaccine. Patients should follow the instructions on their letters and contact the service dealing with their age cohort.
Please do not contact the practice this is having a detrimental effect on our phone accessibility and vulnerable patients are not able to get through to seek medical assistance.
We respectfully ask patients to be mindful in how they communicate with our staff, as there has been an increase of verbal abuse towards our team members as patients are unhappy with the arrangements for the flu campaign.
Please remember, this year has brought about a number of changes due to pandemic and the changes have been put in place, by NHS Scotland to help protect us all.
Thank you for your understanding.
Flu is an infectious and common viral illness spread by coughs and sneezes.
It's not the same as the common cold. Flu is caused by a different group of viruses. Symptoms tend to be more severe and last longer.
You can catch flu – short for influenza – all year round, but it is especially common in winter, which is why it is also known as "seasonal flu".
